- Model community pharmacy service
Bishoftu General Hospital Model Community Pharmacy was established in 2014 E.C., it is located in Bishoftu Town around circle. The pharmacy was established with the mission of providing quality, safe, and affordable medicine for Bishoftu and surrounding communities by ensuring rational prescribing and dispensing. Currently, it has two contract druggists, three pharmacists, and one pharmacy technician.
- It provides 24hrs pharmaceutical services, including holly days.
- It also provides compounding pharmacy and DIS.
- It services Clients from Our hospital, and nearby health facilities including private clinics.
- Clinical Pharmacy & DIC services.
a.Clinical pharmacy:
- Four Dedicated pharmacist
- 8 hrs clinical pharmacy services at all wards,
- Pharmacy-specific documentation is maintained.
- Reviews all medication orders written by the physician.
- Assess medication history at admission,
- Participate in the multidisciplinary round,
- Participate in the multidisciplinary morning session,
- Conduct pharmacy-only rounds,
- Identify drug therapy need/problem,
- Perform medication reconciliation,
- Provide discharge planning and counseling,
- All clinical pharmacy service activities documented and reported,
b.Drug information services.
- Dedicated pharmacy professional
- Receives and respond to Sample query from staff and other clients.
- Medicine-related health education for the staff and clients,
- ADR monitor and reports activity.
- Sample alerts/newsletters prepared
- Stock status update for the prescribers.
- Drug supply management:
It has a focal person who undertakes the following activities:
- Provision of quality, safe, effective & affordable medicines,
- Quantification & forecasting of Pharmaceuticals.
- SSA & procurement.
- Proper documentation of received medicines.
- Process EPSA &private payments.
- Annual ABC/VEN analysis,
- OPD, IP, ART, MDR Pharmacies:
- Receive & Validate prescriptions from clients,
- DTP detection if there is any,
- Evaluation /Billing
- Cancelling & dispensing,
- Record and file.
- Providing medicine-related health education.
- RDF & Program stores:
- Receive drugs ,& supplies From EPSA & private after visual inspection,
- Implement Good Storage practices.
- Record keeping( M19, M22, BIN CARD,DAGU-2).
- Implement IPLS ( IFRR, RRF)
- Pharmacy accountants;
Major activities:
- Manages sales & credit tickets,
- Follow and record daily cash & credit sales,
- Generates monthly, quarterly & annual APTS reports.
