Radiology and Imaging
- Performs cross-sectional imaging like computerized tomography /CT/ and magnetic resonance imaging /MRI;
- Performs basic ultrasounds / obstetric and gynecological & abdominal ultrasound/examinations under the direct supervision of a licensed radiologist;
- Interprets routine chest, abdominal & musculoskeletal radiographic images and provides a preliminary report to the radiologist;
- Interpret the outcomes of diagnostic imaging procedures including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT),x-rays, fluoroscopy, nuclear imaging, mammography, and ultrasound;
- Perform image-guided procedures like biopsy taking and drainage.
- Provide counseling to radiologic patients to explain the process, risks, benefits, or alternative treatments;
- Develop or monitor procedures to ensure adequate quality control of images;
- Document the performance, interpretation, or outcomes of all procedures performed;
- Evaluate medical information to determine patients' risk factors and allergies to contrast agents, or to make decisions regarding the appropriateness of procedures;
- Obtain patients’ histories from records, patient interviews, or by communicating with referring clinicians;
- Conduct physical examinations to inform decisions about appropriate procedures;
- Instructradiologicstaffindesiredtechniques, positions, or projections;
- Prepare comprehensive interpretive reports of findings and communicates results to referring physicians, patients, or families;
- Administer radio-opaque substances by injection, orally, or as enemas to render internal structures and organs visible on x-ray films or fluoroscopic screens;
- Establish or enforce standards and protocols for the protection of patients or personnel;
- teach radiology residents, and medical or radiography students;
- Participate in radiology services quality improvement activities;
- Conduct research and participates in research projects involving radiology;
- Recommend the necessary subsequent diagnostic modality or interventional procedure(s).
